Shichiri Mihama Beach

Shichiri Mihama Beach

The longest sand and gravel beach in Japan that stretches more than 20 km from Kumano City to Kiho Town. The scenery created by the colorful boulders washed ashore by the waves of the Sea of Kumano from the upper reaches of the Kumano River through Shingu is beautiful. These stones are still collected, only by hand and by expert pickers and are used as high-grade stones called "Mihama pebbles" for accessories and other purposes.
