Kumano-River Riverboat Center

Kumano-River Riverboat Center

Visitors can experience riverboat rafting, which was used by emperors and aristocrats in the Middle Ages when they made pilgrimages to Kumano Hongu Taisha Grand Shrine and Kumano Hayatama Taisha Grand Shrine. On the 90-minute "river pilgrimage route" from Roadside Station "Dorokyo Kaido Kumanoriver" to "Gongen Kawara" near Kumano Hayatama Taisha Grand Shrine, famous waterfalls such as "Nunobikino-taki waterfall" and " Jawadano-taki waterfall" and huge rocks will appear one after another. All of them offer precious views that cannot be seen from the ground. While listening to the storyteller's guide, think back to the boat trip of 1,200 years ago. Life jackets are provided for your safety.
