Kumano Kodo(Hossinmon Oji - Kumano HonguTaisha Grand Shrine)

Kumano Kodo(Hossinmon Oji - Kumano HonguTaisha Grand Shrine)

Hossinmon Oji is one of the "Five Main Oji," which are the most prestigious of the "Kumano-99 Oji shrines," enshrining Kumano Gongen's child deities. It is said that there used to be a large torii gate called "Hosshinmon" at this site, and the gateway to the sacred area of Kumano Hongu Taisha Grand Shrine. Among the Kumano Kodo routes this particular route is relatively flat and easy to walk. It takes about 2 hours and 30 minutes to reach the main shrine, and the pilgrims are encouraged by signposts placed approximately every 500 meters from No. 0 "Takijiri Oji" to No. 75 "Haraido Oji" near the Kumano Hongu Taisha Grand Shrine.
