It also may be registered in the system if it is found at a later date.

Procedure for Reclaiming Lost Items (Example)

  • Lost items which have been found at stations or in trains will be registered in our system.
  • Please ask about the item at a location such as a nearby JR Central station. See here for details.
  • In general, we will use our system to confirm whether lost items have been found.
  • If a lost item has been found, it can be reclaimed at the location where it is being held.

Notes

  • Please note that a certain amount of time will be required from the time we take custody of an item until it is registered in our system.
  • Customers will need to go to the location where a lost item is being held in order to reclaim it (transportation expenses will be the responsibility of the customer). When doing so, please bring personal identification documents which can be used to confirm your identity (driver’s license, health insurance card, etc.).
  • As a general rule, lost items taken into custody by our company will be provided to the police station having jurisdiction after a certain amount of time has passed (the duration for items to be retained by our company will differ depending on the location where they are held).
  • Some lost items may be disposed of by sale or otherwise disposed of without providing them to the police.
