Toyo'uke-daijingu (Geku)

Toyo'uke-daijingu (Geku)

Toyo'uke-daijingu (Geku) is dedicated to Toyo’uke-no-Omikami, the deity who presides over the meals of Amaterasu-Omikami, the deity who is enshrined in the Kotaijingu (Naiku), and who is also revered as the guardian deity of food, clothing, shelter, and industry. In the "Mike-Dono" located to the northeast of the main hall, the ritual of offering meals to the deities is performed twice a day, in the morning and evening, for 1,500 years without interruption. The museum "Sengukan," where visitors can learn about the Shikinen Sengu, is also located in the area, and features a full-scale model of the Shoden (main hall) and a diorama of the procession that faithfully reproduces the treasures dedicated to the deities, including the "Onshouzoku Shinpo" (sacred treasures).
