Dojoji temple

Dojoji temple

This ancient temple was founded in 1300 and is known for the "Legend of Princess Anchin Kiyohime," a famous Noh and Kabuki play. The "Engidō-Hall" holds daily "E-Toki-Seppō," an easy-to-understand sermon on this story, using picture scrolls, which is very popular among visitors. The tour takes about 40 minutes, including a visit to the "Hobutsuden," which houses about 20 Buddhist statues, including the National Treasure, Senju Kannon (Thousand-armed Kannon). The temple grounds, with its Nio-mon gate, main hall, and three-story pagoda, boast the majestic appearance of a temple with a history of more than 1,300 years.
