“Child” refers to children who are 6 to 11 years old at the time when the JAPAN RAIL PASS is used. (Persons who are 12 years and older are deemed to be “adults.”) However, if the child is 11 years old at the time the payment is made when purchasing through the online sales service or when the Exchange Order is issued at the time of purchasing overseas, the child will still be considered 11 years old even if the child is actually 12 years old when using the PASS.

The Japan Rail Pass only covers "Hikari" and "Kodama" trains
on the Tokaido Shinkansen,
but the PASS holder can take "NOZOMI" train by
purchasing a special ticket
before boarding.
