A Morning in Osaka’s Kitchen: Seafood and Smiles at Kuromon Market

In the morning, we took the JR train to visit Kuromon Market.
As soon as we entered, we were surrounded by colorful storefronts filled with fresh seafood, seasonal fruits, and local specialties.
Walking through the market felt like experiencing the true heart of Osaka’s food culture.
From grilled scallops to fresh tuna and sweet strawberries, there was something tempting to try at every step.
The energy was lively but welcoming, and getting there by JR made the visit very convenient, allowing us to explore comfortably.
It was the perfect, authentic contrast to the bright lights of Dotonbori later in the day.

Neon Lights and Street Bites: Diving into the Energy of Dotonbori

In the afternoon, we headed to Dotonbori.
The atmosphere changes instantly—the streets become more vibrant, colorful, and full of movement.
Walking along the canal, the famous Glico sign and giant 3D signs, like the iconic crab display, immediately catch your eye.

Dotonbori isn’t just about the views; it’s about the energy and, of course, the food. Our first stop was “Takoya Dotonbori Kukuru,” where the rich dashi flavor of the takoyaki was worth the wait.
Next, we lined up at the famous okonomiyaki restaurant “Mizuno.” Watching their specialty “Yamaimo-yaki” being flipped right in front of us was part of the fun. It was surprisingly light and fluffy.
Between the boats passing along the canal and the mix of traditional and modern signage, everything felt dynamic and lively. Thanks to the easy access by JR, moving between areas felt smooth and stress-free.
