About our area
(Tokaido Region)

The “Tokaido” is a major artery connecting Tokyo, Japan's capital in the east, with Osaka, the vibrant commercial center of the west. Along this historic corridor lie the ancient capitals of Kyoto and Nara, rich in tradition and culture, as well as Nagoya—home to TOYOTA and long recognized as a core hub of Japanese industry.

This region forms the very heart of what is known as Japan's “Golden Route” for tourism. Classic sights and hidden gems are seamlessly connected by the Tokaido Shinkansen. From breathtaking views of Mt. Fuji to the traditional craftsmanship of Takayama, and onward to historic towns and scenic landscapes, traveling the Tokaido brings together the essence of Japan in one remarkable journey.

Operated by JR Central, the Tokaido Shinkansen connects cities smoothly, comfortably, and reliably—elevating the journey itself into a memorable experience.
