About our area
(Tokaido Region)

The “Tokaido” artery links Tokyo, Japan's capital located in the east, and Osaka, a center of commerce located in the west. Between these two destinations lie the ancient capitals of Kyoto and Nara, both rich with history traditional Japanese culture, and Nagoya, a city long known for its industry. A number of other popular destinations like Mt. Fuji, Takayama, and Kanazawa are also easily accessible through connections from the Tokaido.
In other words, the Tokaido is the historical, cultural, industrial, and entertainment hub of Japan, which makes the Tokaido Shinkansen line operated by JR Central the Bullet Train that links Japan's past and present!
